The Jayanthi collection of the brand Commerz by Robin Stoehr® supports a children's home for boys in Sri Lanka. Self-painted pictures of 32 orphans are used in the exclusive creations.
In his collection, designer Robin Stöhr wants to artistically process the tension between orphans living in abject poverty - their desires and dreams expressed in pictures - and the sphere of nighttime partying in ecstasy of our Western culture according to the motto "What's the price of the Earth". The common root is the longing for happy moments and the expression of the joy of life.
Jayanthi is part of the name of the children's home and at the same time a religious festival on the birthday of an incarnated Hindu god. The celebration, joy and ecstasy infuse Robin Stöhr's creations. To absorb the orphans' inspirations, he had their wishes and dreams captured: the pictures painted by them are one source of the designs.
The designer's need: to reproduce it with minimal interpretation and make it accessible to the Western world. In doing so, he combines elements from a further development of his Reflective / Night-Star Collection with the inspirations from Sri Lanka based on the positive context of the joy of life that unites them together.
The collection is rounded off with individual Reimagined creations, which Stöhr redesigns and refines from his vintage and fashion Concept Store Commerz x Cronalla. Thus, this fun-loving collection could be created with the minimal budget available.
People in the western night-life who wear creations from the Jayanthi collection, go out partying with them and enjoy the nightlife, will at the same time support children who do not yet have such a life and express their joy in other ways. 80 percent of the proceeds from the collection will go to the Jayanthi-Home orphanage.
